The Bounty Hunter
“My allegiance is not for sale….” I said, tightening the binders around the Neimoidian’s hands, then shoving him into the crash couch. “Today, that is,” I added with a mischievous grin that I’m sure came through despite the helmet.
“What about tomorrow?” He asked. “It’s a few days journey to Nar Shadaa. Perhaps I can convince you to reconsider? I am very rich, you know.”
“Oh, I know,” I said, and walked over to the pilot’s chair. Low vibrations permeated the ship as the engines came to life. The rest of the preflight sequence would only take a few moments; I reckoned we would make orbit in 10 minutes, and rendezvous with the hyperspace buoy in another 5. Right on schedule… for once.
“I have to use the refresher,” the Neimoidian said, and I could hear him fidgeting.
“How unfortunate for you,” I said.
“If you don’t take me, I will make a mess on your crash couch,” he snarked.
“Go ahead," I said. “This ship’s a rental. Besides, I look forward to watching you plead your case to the Hutt in soiled robes. Strong negotiating position,” I chuckled.
“Really! Where is your humanity?” He snorted, and turned his head away in indignation.
“I’m a bounty hunter, Neimoidian, not a priest of Ylesia. Now, sit back and shut up.”
I cast this helmet in the spring of 2023, and worked on it over the course of the summer/fall. Part of the reason for how long it took was that I can never settle on colours, so I often end up repainting stuff a bunch before I’m satisfied. I revisited it a year later and removed the narrow brow and added some minor battle damage. The helmet was later raffled off by the Mandalorian Mercs Costuming Club and the proceeds donated to The Centre for Grieving Children.
The helmet is made from Smooth On’s Smooth-Cast 65D and ONYX resins cold cast with aluminum, and nickel-silver powders. Helmet is fully padded with removable padding that can be adjusted with included foam inserts.
