FAQ
Q) Do you sell your 3D models or .stl files?
A) Any 3D models that I've made available to the public are listed in the “Free STL Files” section of my website. If it’s not listed there, I'm not willing to release it.
Q) Do you do commissions?
A) I take on commissions ONLY for things that I've made over the years that I still maintain molds for. If there's a helmet that smiles at you from my "Originals" or "SWTOR-Inspired" sections and you want a similar one, feel free to reach out through email with your question and paint job idea.
Please note that at this time I do not take commissions for specific props or cosplay items, or offer paint job services on non Mynock's Den props .
Q) How long do fully-finished helmets take to make?
A) It depends on helmet type, accessories, LEDs, and complexity of paint job the end result calls for. Fully-finished helmet lead times are usually between 1 and 3 months lead, but some projects can be longer. I communicate with my customers regularly throughout the build process and keep them appraised of any potential delays.
Q) Do you keep "ready-to-ship" stock of the products you offer?
A) Any fully-finished and ready-to-wear helmets that I have listed for sale in the shop are "ready to ship" (1-3 business days). For most DIY helmet and MHAS accessory kits, I make things as orders come in, with a lead time of about 1-3 weeks.
Q) Why does your shop have no product reviews? How do I know you're legit?
A) I'm still building this website, and one of my goals is to add customer reviews in the near future. In the meantime, you're welcome to browse my past Etsy reviews to get a sense of the quality of my products and the level of service I strive to provide.
I've been part of the Star Wars prop-making community for over 10 years and have been a member of both the 501st Legion and the Mandalorian Mercs. I strongly believe in treating people with respect and operating with integrity. My reputation means a great deal to me, and I put my full effort into ensuring that every customer has a positive experience and is genuinely satisfied with their purchase.
Q) Where are you located, and what shipping services do you use?
A) I'm in a small town in Southern Manitoba, Canada. For Canada-wide and overseas shipping, I use Canada Post; for US shipping I use UPS. I'm slowly adding other countries and locations to my shipping list, so if you're wanting to purchase something but don't see your country listed, please reach out. I ship all items fully tracked and insured.
Q) Can I put your MHAS accessories on helmets from other makers?
A) No. The MHAS accessories will only work on Mynock's Den helmets that have magnetic receptacles of correct shape and size built in. I cannot offer any advise or consultation on modifications you'd need to make to integrate these accessories with other helmets.
Q) What is your professional background?
A) I have worn a number of hats professionally in my years - from professional music producer, to law enforcement officer for 11 years, to prop-maker. I hold a BSc in Biology and a BA in Religious Studies (History of Religion) from the University of Winnipeg, However, I do not have any formal education or training in visual effects. I learned how to make things by watching relevant videos on YouTube, and by investing both time and resources into levelling up my skillset.
Q) Are you open to brand partnerships?
A) Yes, if it's a good fit. I welcome partnership opportunities with brands whose products are relevant to prop-making, model-building, costuming, 3D printing, painting, finishing, and other aspects of the creative process. If you're a brand operating within these spaces and are interested in working together, I'd be happy to discuss potential collaboration opportunities.
Q) Are you associated with Disney, Lucasfilm, Bioware, etc?
A) No. My work is fan art, and I am not associated with Disney, Lucasfilm, Bioware, or any other third party.
