Heroyam Slava
(Героям Слава)
“It’s deceitfully quiet. The enemy barrage stopped two hours ago, though not before claiming two more vod’e when their section of the trench was hit.
My foot sinks deep into the mud, and an icy stream begins to well up inside my punctured boot. “Osik”, I grumble under my breath; there’s no staying dry in this shabla trench. I hate this never-ending rain, but I know the enemy does too, and this brings me some satisfaction.
My musings are interrupted by the low-pitched whine of a thermobaric plasma artillery round passing overhead. Too high; they’re firing at something behind us.
I lean back against the parapet and perform a function check on my blaster rifle for the third time this hour. Our counter offensive is rumoured to begin any day now, and as exhausted as I am, I’m ready to take the fight to these di’kutla aruetiise.
I close my eyes and meditate on victory…”
The Mandalorian writing above the left ear cap reads “Heroyam Slava” which means “Glory to the Heroes” in Ukrainian. This phrase is part of the iconic Ukrainian call/answer greeting “Слава Україні / Героям Слава” (Slava Ukraini / Heroyam Slava) which translates to “Glory to Ukraine / Glory to the Heroes”. I wanted to infuse a little part of my own heritage into this piece, paying homage to the current moment in history ❤️💪.
The helmet is made from Smooth On’s Smooth-Cast 65D and ONYX resins cold cast with aluminum powder. Helmet is fully padded with removable padding that can be adjusted with foam inserts. The helmet features my Modular Helmet Accessory System (MHAS) - left ear only - which allows for incorporation of detachable ear attachments like the Side Module seen in the photos.
