Bandai
1/72 Scale
TIE Interceptor
A few weeks ago, my wife and I picked out our “craft night” projects. Mine was this Bandai 1/72 scale TIE Interceptor that had been sitting in its box for seven years.
With the upcoming 1/32 scale TIE Interceptor from Round 2 (which I have on pre-order) getting me seriously excited, I figured it was finally time to tackle this little guy. I originally picked up the kit at Star Wars Celebration Chicago back in 2019!
As with other Star Wars Bandai kits I've built, this thing is a beauty. I prepped and painted all the parts separately using a custom mix of Tamiya XF-2 Flat White and XF-82 Ocean Grey 2 (40/60 ratio), and snap assembled all but a few parts, like the solar panels, which I welded in place with Tamiya Extra Thin Cement.
I plugged the stand hole on the bottom of the ship so I could have a complete little TIE Interceptor to “WEEEEEEEEEEEEE” around the house when no one is looking. 😂

I snapped a few progress photos with my iPhone, then took the final shots with my Canon EOS R50 and telephoto lens. I also removed the backgrounds from the final photos to make the model pop a little more.
Thanks for looking! 🤘
