About Me
Taras Harkavyi is a Canadian artist and prop-maker, originally from Ukraine, who immigrated to Canada at age 12 in the mid-’90s.
Before prop-making, Taras had a brief music career that culminated in his 2006 debut album Liftoff (Spotify link). The album’s single “I Will Love Again” earned a Canadian Juno nomination in 2007...
My Work
![I made this helmet back in 2023 for a Star Wars fan film project “Nihilus.” The movie never materialized, so the helmet is now up for grabs [edit: sold].
Inner helmet dimensions are 22cm (8.66”) from ear to ear, and 22cm (8.66”) front to back (see photo in listing). The T-visor has a dark grey-blue tint. Inside, the helmet is fully lined and padded, with removable padding secured by Velcro for easy adjustment. Lights are made up of four steady glow LEDs in the ears, and one flickering LED for the rear key slot and are powered by a 9V battery (included).
For the paint job, I started with a stone texture spray base, then airbrushed the main colors using Tamiya acrylics. Weathering was done with a mix of materials, including Army Painter washes, Vallejo pigments, real rust, and rubbing alcohol.
(Please note that this helmet does not feature my usual MHAS magnetic ear recepticles, and so is not compatible with my MHAS accessories).
